Just a spoonful of imagination

“I don’t know what to do, I have no inspiration, and I just can’t see it!”

Some of my favourite words to hear! Because it just means that my client is struggling to see how the space can best tell their story and represent their character - that’s where I can help!

It is the greatest honour for me to be invited to link arms with my clients for a short season, and to be able to be part of the process that can make such an impact on a persons life. Our homes really can feed or rob your soul, depending on what you do with it. I take it seriously and I take care of my clients seriously, because renovating is a stressful and at times overwhelming thing to do. Your designer needs to be someone you’re comfortable being around, because they will see you at your worst! Will they being peace to the situation, or make it worse!?

When I sat down with a recent client in the city of Netanya, I was so excited to see that we connected so well, I always love it when discovery meetings run over because of getting carried away chatting and connecting!

We made friends instantly over our mutual British heritage, and struggles and stories of living in Israel, but more importantly, she was struggling to visualize how these bathrooms would ever be beautiful.
These were special bathrooms.
Bathrooms that we had no words for….

To say they were disgusting was an understatement and we were both fairly afraid of whatever mould and animals were growing inside the corners and taps…!

Nevertheless, through sitting with my client, and hearing her hopes, and seeing her Pinterest boards, it was really clear to me what she wanted, and I was excited to pull out of her head what she was struggling to see!

So my awesome contractor got to work on demolition - I think the reason he’s so pleasant to have around is because he gets to work lots with a sledgehammer - I mean, is there a better therapy!?

While he destroyed these grotty rooms, I got cracking on the mood boards and technical drawings.

Can you believe he took less than a day to do this?

One of the things I have invested a lot of time and energy into is developing suppliers that I can trust, that give my clients good prices, and who deliver customer services like I would expect and want to see myself. As a Brit who has regularly struggled with the culture of customer service (or lack thereof!) here in Israel, I wanted to do things differently, and really make sure that clients experiences through my business eliminated stress from as many points as possible from the process of renovations.

Having to deal with rude shop workers is unnecessary. So I make sure that every person I work with is a joy to be around, that they’re helpful, and bend over backwards to help my clients in the same way that I do.

Our renovation of these gross bathrooms went by quickly and relatively smoothly, and I think it’s safe to say that we’re all very happy with the end result…

But the best bit for me….
Getting this text from my client….

What I learned from this was just how much a space can mean to someone, without them realising it…
How much that space can transform their quality of life, and how great it can be for my clients, when they finally see their spaces representing them, and matching who they are and tying into their story.

That’s what it’s all about for me.
What about you?
